The Great Advocate

“My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” 1 John 2:1 (ESV)

As we begin a new week, we are determined to get some things done. We have our schedules planned out and we know where we are going to be and when we need to be there. In all our planning for the week, we probably did not plan to sin. For many of us sin is not something that we plan to do. Unfortunately, we all will sin and we all will fall short of the glory of God. We all know that the wages of sin is death, and because of our sin we deserve the sentence of death. However, we serve a merciful God who always gives us opportunity to be forgiven for our sin. The Scripture reminds us, my little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. I encourage you today to remember that you have an advocate in Jesus Christ. Jesus died to pay the price for your sin, and He rose and is sitting on the right hand of God The Father interceding and advocating for you. Jesus is the great advocate who constantly leads and guides your footsteps in the paths that God has planned for you. When you sin, goo to your advocate and ask for forgiveness, and know that you will be forgiven and given another chance. I am grateful that I have an advocate in Jesus Christ, that when I sin, I can depend on my advocate for forgiveness and redemption. I don’t only go to my advocate when things are bad, but I constantly go to Jesus in my good and bad days, knowing that He is always there for me. Since I have The Great Advocate in Jesus Christ on my side, I have no doubt, “It’s My Year To Get My Thing From My God!”

Prayer:

Lord, thank you for being my advocate. You are always defending and redeeming me, and I am grateful. Thank you for always being here for me, no matter what. I love you Lord. In Jesus Name Amen.
