New Wine
November 29, 2023
"Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved." Matthew 9:17
There are some things that we have had for a long time, and we cherish them, and we never want to get rid of them. Since we have had it for such a long time, we want to try and incorporate it with the new things we have. Those things that are sentimental to us do not always work with the new things that we are acquiring. We try to make the old and the new work, but in many instances, they are not compatible, and before we know it we cannot effectively use the new things, because we are trying to make them work with our old things. Not only do we attempt to make the old work with the new things in our lives, but we try to make it work for our spiritual lives as well. We are new creations in The Lord, and we still at times try to make the old person work with the new person we are in Christ, and many times those two worlds do not work well together. The Scripture reminds us that, neither do men put new wind into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wind runs out, and the bottles perish: but the put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved. I encourage you today to remember that you are new in Christ and the old things will not work in the new you. Walk in the newness of life that The Lord has given to you, because when you try to put your old ways into the new you, you will cause yourself to break. Just as wine makers put new wine only into new bottles, only allow the new things that The Lord is doing in your life to take precedence in your life. I know The Lord is doing a new thing in me daily, and I cannot allow the old stuff to get into the new me, because the conflict will break me. Since the new things of The Lord are filling my life daily, I have no doubt, "It's My Year To Get My Thing From My God!"
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for all the great things you are doing in my life. Thank you for keeping and blessing me over and over again. Thank you for allowing the new things to be poured into me. I love you Lord. In Jesus Name Amen.
