More Like God

"Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy." 1 Peter 1:16

As Christians we ought to be different, not better than anyone else, but different. There should be something distinct about us, that others would notice and want to know what it is we have that their life may be missing. This does not mean we should look down on others, and act like we are better than anyone else simply because God has chosen to give us the gift of salvation. The Scripture reminds us to, be holy because God is holy. We can never be holy in the same manner as God is holy in that He is perfect in every way. We are not perfect, but every day we should strive for perfection, and everyday come closer to where God wants us to be, and who God wants us to be. We can be holy by dedicating ourselves to The Lord and giving ourselves to what He has called us to do and to be. I encourage you today to take a look at where you are with God and examine if you are closer to being where He wants you to be, and who He wants you to be. Being holy does not mean you have to change who you are, because when God chose you for salvation, He already knew who you were. You can spend so much time trying to please people that you miss the time necessary to please God. There are still some things God is trying to do in your life, to draw you closer to Him, and it is up to you to heed the call and the pull on your life so you can become who He wants you to be. People may have all types of expectations on who they want you to be, and you may even try to live up to those expectations, but you should also remember that God has some expectations for you as well. The most important thing is to be who God has called you to be, and He has called you to be holy. Every day I strive for perfection and try to get closer to where God wants me to be, and although many days I do not hit the mark it does not keep me from striving for holiness. Since I will continue to strive to be holy as God holy, I have no doubt, "It's My Year To Get My Thing From My God!"

Lord thank you for choosing me to be one of your children. Every day I strive to be better than the day before. I want to be more like you every day, help me to walk in the path and the places that you direct my steps. I love you Lord. In Jesus Name Amen.
