God Hears You When You Pray
January 09, 2026
“Give ear to my words, O LORD; consider my groaning.” Psalm 5:1 (ESV)
There are moments when our prayers are articulate, bold, and structured. But there are other moments, times of exhaustion, deep stress, or heavy grief, where we can barely find the words to whisper a prayer. There are times when we are not sure if God even hears us when we pray and we don’t know if we want to pray. In these moments of unsurety, we mut still pray remembering that God hears us when we pray. The Scripture reminds us, give ear to my words, O Lord; consider my groanings. I encourage you to pray your way through every situation in your life. David asks God to give ear to my words. As David prayed we should also pray and ask God to give ear to listen to our needs and wants, and not only our laundry list of things we need Him to do for us, but also our praises and thanksgiving that we offer to The Lord for all the great and wonderful things He has done for us. David also asks the Lord to consider his groanings, those times when we don’t know what to pray and our words don’t seem to come out right and sometimes all we can do is moan. No matter the situation you find yourself in remember that God hears you when you pray and He will answer you when you call. God does not just hear the polished prayers, but He hears you when you call and He knows just what you need. I am grateful and thankful that God hears and answers all my prayers and He is always present when I cry. Since I know that God hears me when I pray and considers all my groans, I have no doubt, “it’s My Yea rTo Get My Thing From My God!”
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being a God who leans in to listen. Thank You that I don't have to be perfect or poetic for you to hear my prayers and my prayers to reach your heart. Today, I give you my words, but I also give You the heavy things I can’t quite explain. Please hear my voice and consider my sighing. I love you Lord. In Jesus Name Amen.
