"And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God." Luke 4:4
It is no secret that we need food to sustain and keep us alive. The average person can only go about three days without water, but can go thirty to forty days without food. If we are deprived of food, we will not be able to survive and our bodies will begin to shut down, because food is essential to keeping our bodies nourished. It is also important to make sure we keep our spiritual bodies healthy and nourished. The Scripture reminds us that Jesus said, that man shall not live by bead alone, but by every Word of God. I encourage you today to remember that you need the Word of God to strengthen you daily. If you go a day without eating your body will begin to let you know that it needs nourishment, you will begin to get headaches and start feeling a little fatigued. Just as our physical bodies need to be sustained with food, our spiritual bodies need to be sustained with daily doses of the Word of God, prayer, and time spent alone with God. When we take the time to make sure we are being fed spiritually God will give us what we need to make it through. Without spiritual nourishment you cannot handle everything that comes against you. You cannot live just by physical food, but you live by every Word of God, and in order to live by His Word you have to know His Word and spend time in His Word. It is when you are going through a storm when the Word of God will give you just what you need to make it through. When family and friends become few, it is in the Word of God you will find the comfort you need to keep going. Bread will feed you, but the Word of God will keep and strengthen you. I thank God for the physical food that He provides for me, and I am also grateful for the spiritual food that His gives to me daily, for it is by His Word that I make it day by day, and situation by situation. Since I cannot live by bread alone and I am living by every Word of God, I have no doubt, "It's My Year To Get My Thing From My God!"
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for the food that you provide for me. The physical food that sustains my body, and the spiritual food that sustains my soul. I know that I cannot make it without all that you have for me. Thank you for feeding me daily. I love you Lord. In Jesus Name Amen.
