Be Welcoming
January 15, 2026
“Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” Romans 15:7 (ESV)
God has made each of us different, and we should learn to embrace our differences and not alienate those who are not like us. In Romans 15, the Apostle Paul is addressing a community that was wrestling with deep differences. They were divided by culture, dietary laws, and varying levels of spiritual maturity. His solution wasn't a list of rules, but a radical call to hospitality of the heart. The Scripture reminds us, therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. I encourage you today to not focus on your differences with people, but remember that God made us all. When Paul says welcome one another, he means more than just a polite nod or hello at the door. It means to take someone by the hand, to grant them access to your heart, and to accept them into your inner circle. This will not always be easy, but remember that God saved us when we didn’t deserve it. Paul reminds us that our standard for accepting others isn't based on their personality, their politics, or how much they agree with us. Our standard is Jesus. Jesus welcomed us while we were still sinners, and loved us through all our challenges in life. When we find it hard to bridge the gap with someone else, all we have to do is look back at the massive gap Christ bridged to reach us. When people who have nothing in common or who should naturally be at odds sit at the same table in peace, the world notices. Our unity isn't just about getting along, it shows that the grace of God is more powerful than any human division. I am determined to be a bridge that shows love and highlights God’s grace. Since I am determined to be welcoming to all who God places in my path, I have no doubt, “It’s My Year To Get My Thing From My God!”
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for loving me when I was unlovable. Thank you for looking past my sin and my faults and loving me and accepting me just the way I was. Help me to be welcoming to all no matter our differences. I love you Lord. In Jesus Name Amen.
