Lose To Win
September 06, 2025
Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, Philippians 3:8
In life we will lose some and we will win some, and it can feel like we lose more than we win. It is difficult to lose and still feel good. Losing can be so tough that we must teach children how to lose gracefully, and not to be so upset when they lose, because in life we are going to win some and lose some, and sometimes it’s not about if you win that shows who we are, but how we handle defeat. The Scripture reminds us that Paul counted everything as loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ, for whom he suffered the loss of all things, and counted them as nothing, so that he could win Christ. I encourage you today to remember that you may have to lose some things to get closer to Christ. As you continue to grow spiritually there are some things in your life that you will have to let go to grow more in Christ. There are some things that you may have felt that you could not do without, but you will have to let them go to win Christ. There are some people in your life who may be holding you back from getting to the place you need to be spiritually, and you will have to let them go so you can get to that place in God. Paul said he suffered loss of all things, and there are going to be times on this journey that you may feel like we have suffered loss of all things, but what you gain is so much greater than what you suffered through. You may be going through right now feeling like you are losing everything but, in the end, you will win Christ. Every day I want to draw closer and closer to Christ and as I mature spiritually, I know there are some things I will have to let go so I can get even closer to Christ. Since I can count things as loss so I can gain the excellent knowledge of Christ, I know for sure, "It's My Year To Get My Thing From My God!"
Prayer:
Lord, draw me nearer to you today and every day. Help me to let go of those things that I need to let go of so I can get closer to you and grow in your knowledge. Lord, I want to know you more and better each day. Thank you for loving me enough to allow me to get closer to you. I love you Lord. In Jesus Name Amen.
