True Love

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13

As Christians it should be our mission to follow the commandments of God and be obedient to Him. In many instances we do not even hesitate to do the things that God has directed us to do, but then there are times when we must intentional about the things The Lord has asked us to do. Jesus reminds us the greatest commandment is that we love The Lord God with all of our hearts, souls, and strength, and the second is like it that we would love our neighbors as we love ourselves.

In The Midst Of Trouble

"Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me." Psalm 138:7

The song Amazing Grace has a line that says, “through many dangers toils, and snares I have already come and it was grace that has led me safe this far and grace shall lead me on.” We all can relate to this line, because we have all been through some things in our lives. Some of us have been through more than others, but through everything we have been through God has seen us through.

Never Alone

"Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Matthew 28:20

There are going to be times in all of our lives when we are going to feel like we are all alone. When we go through those difficult times in life it can feel very lonely, and no one seemingly understands what we are going through. We look around and try to find somebody to talk to who will understand the struggles, and we discover there is probably no one who will understand because of the enormity of our issue.

Give Thanks

“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!” 1 Chronicles 16:34 (ESV)

As we celebrate Thanksgiving today with family and friends each of us has many things that we can be thankful for. Today should not be about those trivial things that may be happening around us, but just a time to pause and realize how blessed we are. Some of us will use this day to give back to others that are less fortunate than ourselves, and others will gather with family to reconnect and share the blessings that God has been doing in their lives, and others will participate in retail therapy; however we spend this day we should begin and end it with thanks to The Lord.

It Will Work Out

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 (ESV)

From Time to time we are faced with situations and circumstances that we do not know how they are going to work out. We hope for the best, but we are not sure that the best will be the outcome. Our experiences through trials and tribulations cause us to realize that not all things work out the way we planned them or wanted them to work out. Although things do not always work out the way we wanted them to work out, because we are children of God and we have faith we know that all things work out the exactly the way The Lord wants them to work out for us.

Don’t Stagger

"He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;" Romans 4:20

What is this thing called faith? We hear about faith all the time and know we are supposed to have it, but what exactly is it? Faith is believing God, even when what we are believing Him for does not look like the word that He spoke to us. There are times when we may know we have faith and there times when we doubt if we have faith at all. As Christians we are supposed to be people of faith, but there are situations even as Christians that our faith gets weak.

Think On These Things

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Philippians 4:8 (ESV)

It is that time of year when many of us have a lot of things on our minds. We busy ourselves trying to prepare for the holidays that are quickly approaching us. It is in our hustle and bustle that we can forget those things that we should be thinking about. Our minds can begin to race to the negative things around us, and we miss all of the positive things that The Lord is doing in our lives.

Thankful For The Seasons

"That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil." Deuteronomy 11:14

There is a season for everything in life. No matter where we may live we experience the four seasons of weather. In each of these seasons something different happens, things begin to hibernate in winter, start to bud in spring, and come to full bloom in summer, and the process starts all over in the fall. Life has a way having it's own seasons, there are times when all is going right and we are on top of the world, then it seems like a few things begin to go astray, then we are in full blown stormy seasons, and then God calms the storms, and it almost feels like we start the process all over again.

God Is Your Help

"For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee." Isaiah 41:13

No matter how strong we try to be in every situation that life throws at us, there are going to be times when we are going to need somebody to help us. When we are used to being independent and doing things on our own and really not depending on anybody else it becomes difficult to ask for help when we need help. Then it seems when we need help the people we ask to help us cannot help they way we need the help.
