The Lord Repays
"The Lord repay you for what you have done, and a full reward be given you by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge!” Ruth 2:12 (ESV)
Each of us has at some point has gone out of our way to be nice or to help someone out of the kindness of our hearts, not looking for anything in return. There were times when the person would try to pay us or to give us something for helping them, and other times they would not, but because we did it out of the kindness of our hearts the remuneration was not needed. As we look back over our lives The Lord has blessed us tremendously and many of our blessings we do not even deserve, but He keeps on blessing us. Ruth made a decision to take care of her mother in law and was not looking for anything in return, but The Lord blessed her.
Embrace New Life
"He also told them a parable: “No one tears a piece from a new garment and puts it on an old garment. If he does, he will tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old." Luke 5:36 (ESV)
Each of us has a favorite clothing item that we liked so much that no matter the style of the day, or anything else we are going to wear it until we just could not wear it any longer. It can become disheartening when that item becomes so worn that we cannot wear it any longer. After we sew up the frayed ends and try to do all the repairs on it that we can, then once a noticeable tear is in the garment there is nothing we can do, but come to the realization that we cannot wear it any longer. If we try to patch it with another piece of fabric we know that it will not look good or even last.
Happy In The Lord
“Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord, the shield of your help, and the sword of your triumph! Your enemies shall come fawning to you, and you shall tread upon their backs.” Deuteronomy 33:29 (ESV)
There should be no doubt that The Lord continues to do great things in our lives, and that should be more than enough to make us happy. The Scripture reminds us that, happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord, the shield of your help, and the sword of your triumph! Your enemies shall come fawning to you, and you shall tread upon their backs.
“I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread.” Psalm 37:25 (ESV)
In this time of pause that we find ourselves in, each of us should take some time to reflect on the goodness of The Lord in our lives. When we take this time to reflect, we should quickly see that The Lord has been good to us, and has taken care us every step of our lives. There has not been a time when God has not provided for us, and there has not been a time when He has not made a way for us. In the midst of this season we should have the confidence to know that The Lord will not leave us now. The Psalmist reminds us that, I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread. I encourage you today to know that The Lord will not leave you.
