The Beginning Of Wisdom
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!” Psalm 111:10 (ESV)
Fear is something that we all have. One person may be afraid of one thing, and someone else may be afraid of another, but we all have fears. Those fears will keep us from doing some things that we may want to try, but because we are afraid we probably will not try them. If we are not carful we can allow fear to take over our lives and be paralyzed by it. While we may have fears of things, we should never have that type of fear towards The Lord.
“Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;” James 1:19 (ESV)
It is said that those that are wise do not talk much. They just go about doing what they must do to get the results that they are looking for. The smartest one in the class does not sit in the back of the room and have conversations with their classmates, but they usually sit up front and do not have much to say. There are so many lessons we can learn by watching and listening. When we watch and listen we can observe more and know what is fact and what is not. The Scripture reminds us to, let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger. I encourage you today to take time to do more listening.
God Will Fight For You
“In the place where you hear the sound of the trumpet, rally to us there. Our God will fight for us.” Nehemiah 4:20 (ESV)
There are going to be some battles in life that we are going to have to fight. There will be no way of getting around them, no way of sitting it out, there are going to be some battles that are ours to fight. Then there are going to be some battles that are not ours to fight, and we will need to sit on the sidelines and allow God to fight those battles for us. We should never try to fight the battles that are not ours to fight, because when we do it is with certainty that we will not win.
"The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad." Psalm 126:3
If we take the time to look at the journey we have been on thus far in our lives we will soon discover that we have had ups and downs. We have had good and bad days. We have been through a lot, but we made it to the place we are right now, because of the grace of God. We should also be able to say that through it all The Lord has done great things for us. The Lord has opened for us, and made ways for us that no one else could have done.
