Covered And Favored

“For you bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover him with favor as with a shield.” Psalm 5:12 (ESV)

It is important as Christians to ensure that our relationship with Christ is in a good place. To ensure our relationship with Him is in a good place, we must spend time with Him, and we must spend time in His Word and in prayer, because it is in His Word and through prayer that we get to know Him better. We should have a daily pursuit to know God better.

The Beginning Of Wisdom

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!” Psalm 111:10 (ESV)

Fear is something that we all have. One person may be afraid of one thing, and someone else may be afraid of another, but we all have fears. Those fears will keep us from doing some things that we may want to try, but because we are afraid we probably will not try them. If we are not carful we can allow fear to take over our lives and be paralyzed by it. While we may have fears of things, we should never have that type of fear towards The Lord.

“Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;” James 1:19 (ESV)

It is said that those that are wise do not talk much. They just go about doing what they must do to get the results that they are looking for. The smartest one in the class does not sit in the back of the room and have conversations with their classmates, but they usually sit up front and do not have much to say. There are so many lessons we can learn by watching and listening. When we watch and listen we can observe more and know what is fact and what is not. The Scripture reminds us to, let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger. I encourage you today to take time to do more listening.

God Will Fight For You

“In the place where you hear the sound of the trumpet, rally to us there. Our God will fight for us.” Nehemiah 4:20 (ESV)

There are going to be some battles in life that we are going to have to fight. There will be no way of getting around them, no way of sitting it out, there are going to be some battles that are ours to fight. Then there are going to be some battles that are not ours to fight, and we will need to sit on the sidelines and allow God to fight those battles for us. We should never try to fight the battles that are not ours to fight, because when we do it is with certainty that we will not win.

Happy Glad

"The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad." Psalm 126:3

If we take the time to look at the journey we have been on thus far in our lives we will soon discover that we have had ups and downs. We have had good and bad days. We have been through a lot, but we made it to the place we are right now, because of the grace of God. We should also be able to say that through it all The Lord has done great things for us. The Lord has opened for us, and made ways for us that no one else could have done.

Stay The Course

“A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” James 1:8

Each of us probably knows someone who finds it difficult to make a decision. One day they are sure that they are going to do one thing, and minutes later they are doing something totally different. We probably also know someone who finds it challenging to keep their word. They say they are going to do one thing, but when we turn around they have done the total opposite of what they said they would do. It is hard to depend on those who are constantly changing their minds or going off the set course.

Time To Grow Up

“So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.” 2 Timothy 2:22 (ESV)

There comes a time in all of our lives that we had to realize that it was time for us to simply grow up. We were making decisions that were not in our best interest and still acting like we were teenagers. When life hits us we did not have time to be childlike in our approach we had to make the mature decisions for our direction and path in life. There also comes a time in our spiritual walk that we also must choose to grow up, and become the mature Christians that we were called to be.

Learn To Wait

“But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” 2 Peter 3:8 (ESV)

We are living in a technologically driven society that has information in the palm of our hands. When we do not know something we can simply Google the information and hopefully what we find is accurate. We no longer have to search for information in the library or encyclopedias, and since we do not have to take time to do research we find ourselves many times not wanting to wait for anything.

Exalt Him

“Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength! We will sing and praise your power.” Psalm 21:13 (ESV)

Every day should be a day of worship and praise unto The Lord. Every day The Lord does great and wonderful things in our lives. Every day The Lord is with us, and every day we should lift up His name in praise. Every day The Lord provides for our every need and we should thank and praise Him for His goodness towards us. Every day we sin, and every day The Lord forgives us and gives us another chance.
