Get Ready For The Harvest

"Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you." Hosea 10:12

We have all heard the saying, “nothing from nothing leaves nothing.”  In order for us to have anything we have to start with something, no matter how small or big it may be we have to start with something.  Even in our spiritual lives we have to start out with a little faith, then our faith continues to grows as we trust and depend on God.  A farmer does not just simply one day go out into the field and begin to gather the crops, what he reaps is a result of the little seeds he had already sown.

Muzzle Your Mouth

“I said, “I will guard my ways, that I may not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth with a muzzle, so long as the wicked are in my presence.” Psalm 39:1 (ESV)

There have been times in all of our lives when we were in a situation when we said something that we knew we should not have said.  By the time the words came out of our mouths, we knew we had said the wrong thing, and to make matters worse we said it to the wrong person who will now try to use our own words against us.  In every situation we face in life we must be careful and take some time to think before we speak, because once we say the words we can never retrieve them.

Stand On His Promises

“For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.” 2 Corinthians 1:20 (ESV)

In this hotly charged political season that we find ourselves in, we will discover that those running for office will promise us a myriad of things.  Some of those promises they will be able to fulfill and there are others that will probably never happen, but it does not stop them from making the promise.

The Lord Is With You In The Fight

“They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you, for I am with you, declares the Lord, to deliver you.” Jeremiah 1:19 (ESV)

It should be no secret that from time to time in our lives we are going to have to fight our way through some things.  There have been fights that we have lost, but there are also some fights we have won, and the ones that we obtained victory in are the ones that we allowed God to fight for us.  Not every fight is our fight to fight, some fights we must leave to God to fight them for us.

Good And Pleasant

"Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!" Psalm 133:1

Each of us at one time in our lives had to deal with a person who for whatever the reason rubbed us the wrong way. There are those on our jobs or school that for some reason or another we just find it difficult to get along with them. We try all that we know, and still we cannot find common ground.

God Is On Your Side

"What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" Romans 8:31

We can be as nice as we want to be to people and do the right things towards them, and we are still going to have some people against us.  No matter how much we follow the rules, there are going to be some things that come against us.  It is in the times when things and people are coming against we may begin to wonder who is on our side.  The people who are supposedly close to us will turn on us, and before we know it we are fighting against those who were once on our side.

Call On The Name Of The Lord

"But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall." Malachi 4:2

For those of us who truly love The Lord there is no doubt that He has done great things in our lives.  We have discovered that simply being in His presence is enough to destroy yokes, and heal physically and mentally, and we have also discovered that there is power in His name.  There have been times when we did not know what to do, and it is was in our distress that we called on the name of The Lord, and just at the mention of His name we felt the weight being lifted off of our shoulders.

Never Forget

"Then beware lest thou forget the Lord, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage." Deuteronomy 6:12

It can be disheartening when we do something for someone who asked us to help them, and after we did, they act like they do not know us.  There are some people who will talk to us only when they need something for us, and if they do not need anything from us then they do not have time for us.

Do The Right Thing

“To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.” Proverbs 21:3 (ESV)

If we are honest with ourselves it is not always easy to do the right thing.  There are times when we struggle between doing what we know is right, and doing what we want to do.  We know that we should help someone because it is the right thing to do, but when we think about something they may have done to us or said about us, we struggle with doing what is right.
