Not The End Of The Story

“And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen shroud 60 and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut in the rock. And he rolled a great stone to the entrance of the tomb and went away.” Matthew 27:59-60

Jesus was crucified for crimes He did not commit.  He was crucified for the sins of the whole world.  He suffered, bled, and died that we might have a right to the tree of life.  He hung on that rugged cross for three hours before He hung his head and died, and it was in that very moment that our sins died and the price of our sins were atoned for.

Just For Me

“And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the robe and put his own clothes on him and led him away to crucify him.” Matthew 27:31 (ESV)

All across Christendom we pause and recognize this time called Good Friday.  On the surface it does not seem like it was a good Friday, because our Lord and Savior was being whipped and would be crucified.  It didn’t seem like a good Friday because an innocent man was to be killed for being good and righteous.

Never Forget

“I tell you I will not drink again of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.” Matthew 26:29 (ESV)

As we are nearing Resurrection Sunday, we find that Jesus is going about putting things in order so that when He leaves, we would have some patterns and blueprints to follow in order to be His disciples.  Jesus wanted to ensure that we would never forget the sacrifices that He has made for us on Calvary.

Give Your Very Best

“There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.” Matthew 26:7

If we took the time to think about all of the great and wonderful things that The Lord has done for us, we will quickly see that we are extremely blessed.  Many of the things that The Lord has blessed us with are invaluable to us, and we would not trade them for the world.

Pray In Faith

“And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.” Matthew 21:22 (ESV)

Prayer is one of the most powerful spiritual weapons that we have.  When we realize the power that is in prayer we will not spend so much time talking to everyone else about our problems and the things that we are facing in life, we will just go to The Lord in prayer and tell Him about it.

Don’t Stay Down

“Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me.” Micah 7:8 (ESV)

Each of us is going to have our good and bad days as we go through life.  If we are not careful it can seem that are bad days are more significant than our good days.

Shout Hosanna

"Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord." John 12:13

Today in Christendom we pause to celebrate Palm Sunday.  A day we remember Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem.  Jesus came into Jerusalem humble riding on a donkey, and some believed that this could not be the Messiah because He did not come charging in on a white horse overtaking those who were against Him.

When Trouble Comes

"For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock." Psalm 27:5

There is never any need for any of us to look for trouble; it somehow has a way of finding us.  Trouble comes at the least expected time.  Trouble is rude, it does not care what else is going on in our lives at the time, it just shows up unannounced and in full force.

Do The Right Thing

“Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.” Psalm 34:14 (ESV)

If we were really honest with ourselves we would readily confess that there are times when it is easier to do the wrong thing than it is to do the right thing.  There are even times when we have done the wrong things, because it was just easier to do that then it was to put in the effort to do what was right.
