Keep Your Hope In God

"But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more." Psalm 71:14

Each of us has been a situation that on the surface looked hopeless.  We have been in a place where we just did not know what we were going to do, or how we were going to get out of what we were in, but somehow in the midst of it all God stepped in and made a way out of no way.

“but whoever listens to me will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.” Proverbs 1:33 (ESV)

Growing up we were taught the importance of listening to and obeying our parents.  We were also taught that we should listen to and respect our elders.  We were told this because our parents and elders had wisdom and knowledge that we did not yet possess.

Do The Right Thing

“But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.” 1 Timothy 6:11 (ESV)

There are times in life when we will come to some crossroads, and have to make a decision of which way we should go.  The decision to go the right way or the wrong way does not seem like a difficult decision, but there are times when the wrong way does not seem that wrong and it seems to be easier than the right way.

Thirst Quencher

"I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land." Psalm 143:6

Each of us at one time in our lives has been in a place where we were craving a particular thing to eat or drink. It did not matter what else we had, it would not satisfy us, and we were not going to be satisfied until we had what we had a taste for.

It Is Always Right To Do Right

"To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.” Proverbs 21:3 (ESV)

If we are honest with ourselves it is not always easy to do the right thing.  There are times when we struggle between doing what we know is right, and doing what we want to do.  We know that we should help someone because it is the right thing to do, but when we think about something they may have done to us or said about us, we struggle with doing what is right.

Draw Near To God

“Then Saul said, “Let us go down after the Philistines by night and plunder them until the morning light; let us not leave a man of them.” And they said, “Do whatever seems good to you.” But the priest said, “Let us draw near to God here.” 1 Samuel 14:36 (ESV)

Many of us grew up in a time when it was imperative to follow the directions of our parents.  We did not get an opportunity to do something simply because everyone else was doing it.  We had to follow the directions and orders of our house, and many of our parents would tell us that they did not care what anyone else was doing, we had to do what we were told to do in their house.

I Believe

“Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!” Mark 9:24 (ESV)

For many of us our faith is the bedrock of who we are as Christians.  We live and walk by faith on a daily basis.  Our faith is what keeps and guides us through many situations that we face in our lives.

I Want To See Him

“And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.” Luke 23:8

Jesus was being condemned to death for things that He had not done.  For the most part Jesus remained quiet and did not answer the accusations that were levied against Him.

Stay Focused

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!” Psalm 37:7 (ESV)

Trusting in The Lord is a faith walk that requires us to have faith every step of the way.  When we look around and see people who do not serve The Lord getting ahead, and seeing those who put The Lord on a shelf and take Him down when they need Him, seemingly prospering at every hand, it becomes difficult to keep the faith.
