The New Tomb
Once He is dead there are those who do not want to leave Him on the cross, so they ask Pilate if they could bury the body of Jesus. The Scripture reminds us that, in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. I encourage you today to remember that the tomb that He was placed in, was not going to be able to hold Him. The tomb is a reminder to us that Jesus did die and was buried, but that is not the end of the story. On this day let us reflect on the passion of Christ for us, and all the things that He went through so that we would not have to pay the price for our sins. They buried Jesus in a tomb that no one had ever laid in before, and that tomb is a testimony of the power and greatness of Christ. I am thankful for the tomb that they laid Jesus in for the weekend, and that tomb reminds me that all my sins and grief was buried in that tomb. Since I know that the tomb could not hold Jesus, I have no doubt, “It’s My Year to Get My Thing From My God!”
Lord thank you for the tomb that I know will not be the permanent resting place for Jesus. I know that Jesus is at your right-hand interceding for me. Thank you for sending Jesus to die for me, so that I might have a right to the tree of life. I love you Lord. In Jesus Name Amen.
