Trouble Don’t Last Always

“For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (ESV)

Those of us who grew up or spent anytime in Church has heard the phrase, “trouble don’t last always.”  While it may seem like that it is a good phrase and one that would encourage a person going through some trouble, however for the one going through the trouble it feels like trouble does last always.  Going through spiritual and emotional storms can feel like an eternity and the end of the storm does not seem to be near.

Feeding From The Hand Of God

“When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are filled with good things.” Psalm 104:28 (ESV)

The Lord is so incredibly good to us.  He blesses us in ways that we could never have imagined.  There is not a day that goes by that we do not experience the blessings of God flowing in our lives.  There are days however that we may not realize that we are basking in His blessings, and will begin to complain about the things we may not have instead of being thankful for the things that God has blessed us with.

Be Still

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!” Psalm 37:7 (ESV)

Trusting in The Lord is a faith walk that will require us to trust The Lord every step of the way.  When we look around and see people who do not serve The Lord getting ahead, and seeing those who put The Lord on a shelf and take Him down when they need Him, seemingly prospering at every hand, it becomes difficult to keep the faith.

The Lord Is

"But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head." Psalm 3:3

When we know that rain is in the forecast we try to make sure we have an umbrella with us to keep us dry from the elements.  When we know the temperature is going to drop we make sure we have the proper attire to keep us warm from the cold.  When we know that certain things are going to happen we can prepare ourselves for whatever it is.  Just as the umbrella keeps us dry and protects us from the rain, we have The Lord who is with us and protects and shields us from the things that may try to come our way.

Don’t Worry

“Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?” Matthew 6:30

For all of our lives The Lord has taken care of us, and has been there for us when we realized it and even in those times when we have not realized it.  There has not been one need that we have had that The Lord has not provided for.  He has been our friend and confidant when we needed Him t, and doors have been opened for us that we know that The Lord was the one who opened that door.

Have An Encounter With God

"And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed." Genesis 32:28

We all have done things in our lives that we are not proud of. Some of the things we have done we carry with us everyday of our lives. There are some things that are difficult to let go of, and no matter how many times we try to let it go we will never forget what we did or what happened to us. We can decide to let our past have power over us, to the point we feel like we will never be able to move on past our past.

God Will Exalt You

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:” 1 Peter 5:6

Each of us has experienced a time when we saw others doing well while we were struggling.  We were trying to do everything the right way, and even in then we were still not reaching the places that we thought that we should have been.  It is difficult to see others doing well, who may not be doing the right things, while we continue to have to fight and scratch for everything we do.

Newness Of Life

“We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4 (ESV)

Being a Christian does not abrogate us from the struggles of life.  Our salvation does not guarantee us a life without stress but it does give us an assurance that we do not go through it alone.  There are going to be struggles on our Christian journey, and some of them will be more difficult than others, but we should always recognize that Christ is our example that when we struggle, we will also succeed.

God Is There

"The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them." Deuteronomy 33:27

There should be someone in our lives we can go to and share the things we are going through.  So many times we try to bottle everything in and keep it to our selves, and then the stresses of life catches up to us and before we know, we are totally stressed out.  Stress can cause health problems, and physical aliments as a result of keeping everything to ourselves.
