Nourishment For Spiritual Growth

“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:” 1 Peter 2:2

Daily proper nutrition is essential for us to grow and function.  We may not always eat healthy, but we need food to survive.  Even a baby needs milk to help them to develop and grow.  As Christians we need to be nourished to help us to spiritually grow into who The Lord has created us to be.  We cannot grow physically without proper nutrition and we cannot grow spiritually without it as well.

The Lord is Before and Behind You

“For you shall not go out in haste, and you shall not go in flight, for the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard.” Isaiah 52:12

Each of us goes through trials in our lives, and each of us has made it through those trials with the help of The Lord.  Some of the trials we have faced were more difficult than others, but no matter the severity of difficulty of the trial we made it through with The Lord being our helper.

Sorrow Into Joy

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy." John 16:20

The events that happen around us on a daily basis can and will cause us to be saddened by what we see and hear.  We have experienced some things that seemed like we were the only ones going through.  Storms have come our way and the downpours of life have drenched us, and it has felt like it was only raining on our side of the street.

Order My Steps

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” Psalm 37:23

Many of us grew up playing a game called follow the leader.  Whatever the leader did those behind the leader were supposed to do as well.  If at any time one did not follow the leader they were automatically out of the game.  As we have grown up we have not ceased playing follow the leader, but we have to make sure we are following the right leader.

Thirst Quencher

“As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.” Psalm 42:1

The feeling of being thirsty and parched is one that each of us has experienced, and although we know what it is that will quench the thirst that we are experiencing we at times find it difficult to have our thirst quenched.  When we are really thirsty our favorite soft drinks, juices, or one of our other favorite beverages will not quench our thirst.

Healing For Your Brokenness

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3 (ESV)

Rough patches will happen in all of our lives as we travel this journey of life.  There will be times when we will feel like it is one thing right after another and we can seemingly never catch a break.  It is in these seasons of ups and downs that we can find ourselves feeling broken and wounded because of the things that we have gone through.

Call On The Lord

"In distress you called, and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah." Psalm 81:7 (ESV)

Each of us has been in a situation where we were in distress.  We have found ourselves in situations and circumstances that we just could not get ourselves out of, and we had to call someone that we thought could help us in our time of need.

Give Thanks

“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!” 1 Chronicles 16:34 (ESV)

As we pause to celebrate Thanksgiving Day, may people have many different traditions that they share on this day.  Many will gather with family and friends to share in the Thanksgiving meal, some will travel to watch sporting events, or some other activities that have become a part of their family tradition.  No matter what happens today, we should make sure that we give thanks to The Lord for all that He has done for us.

On The Right Path

"Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore." Psalm 16:11

When we are traveling no one likes going in the wrong direction, because when we do it causes us to be delayed in getting to our destination.   When we are going in the wrong direction it is imperative for us to ask for directions in order for us to get back on the right path.  It is the same way with our spiritual walk when we are not going in the right direction it causes us to be delayed in getting to our destiny.
